No Single-Use Plastics

DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment

With the amount of harmful plastic litter in oceans and seas growing ever greater, the European Commission proposed EU-wide rules to target 10 single-use plastic products most often found on Europe’s beaches and seas, as well as lost and abandoned fishing gear.   Current proposals have focused on specific items such as grocery bags, cutlery, beverage straws and stir sticks, expanded polystyrene or oxo-degradable plastic.
As global concerns continue to grow regarding the environmental impact of plastic litter, the EU Parliament has  proposed regulatory measures to reduce consumption of Single Use Plastics.

 According to single-use plastics directive:

Food containers, i.e. receptacles such as boxes, with or without a cover

used to contain food that is intended for immediate consumption from the receptacle either on-the-spot

or take-away without any further preparation, such as food containers used for fast food,

except beverage containers, plates and packets and wrappers containing food.

In the current regulatory environment:

Innovative flexible as well as PET rigid films produced by Eurocast,
intended for the production of food packaging is not considered Single Use Plastic because it protects and preserves food quality and safety across a complex global supply chain.
